A deep red in the glass with classical Barossa notes of plum with some earthen influence and the unmistakable influence of vanillin spice from new oak. The palate continues the thread from the nose, especially with respect to oak. There are layers of vanillin oak that dominate the fruit, it does give gloss and texture but if dialled back a touch would allow more expression of site and region. The finish is long and does see fruit and oak working in equal balance.
