2019 Shanahans The Old Dog Shiraz

A classic example of Barossa Shiraz that is sourced from the north west of the Barossa. The aromatics focus on plum and black cherry with a lift from violets and a suggestion of spice. The palate is expansive, but not overbearing with fruit tending to blueberry and the subtle impact of 15% new oak providing a veneer of richness. The mid palate starts to show more savoury impact with drying tannin having a dark chocolate edge. The finish sees a return of vibrant plum and dark cherry with impressive length.

This level of quality at $23 is not seen often.
