The wine has a youthful medium red hue in the glass, with the nose decidedly savoury with blackberry, ash and an underlying cherry cola character. I was thinking about what this wine reminded me of in terms of variety and region on the nose and it's not dissimilar to a Loire Valley Cabernet Franc in terms of leather, ash, dark berry fruits and general interest.
The palate is underpinned by a backbone of drying earthy tannins that guide the wine from start to finish, there are no green elements to the wine with blackberry and earth lingering, with very good length on the finish.
This wine was tasted alongside a couple of French cheeses; Delice de Bourgogne and d'Affinois and was the perfect accompaniment with the drying tannins and concentrated black fruits cutting through the richness of the cheese.
