Tasting
The Tiers vineyard is one of the most iconic and revered Chardonnay vineyards in Australia, established by Brian Croser and now shared bewtween Petaluma and Brian Croser's Tapanappa it is capable of producing breathtaking wines that are piercingly pure in their youth and hauntingly complex over time.
The wine has started to develop a lightly golden hue in the glass, with a nose that shows intense concentration of peach that is accentuated by a flash of savoury oak and background toasted nuts.
The palate has presence and complexity, still tightly bound with stone fruits giving up a little richness and spice from quality french oak, it finishes with a layered mouthfeel that plays taut acidity, smokey oak and pristine fruit against one another, which is my kind of standoff !
