Tasting
This has to be the best Chardonnay in this country at the moment, it's spectacular in its depth of flavour and beguiling in terms of complexity. This is not a one off for this iconic Margaret River producer, the Kevin John has been a standout for many vintages, however it is often overshadowed by the rockstar that is the Diana Madeline.
It's an exciting nose of wood smoke, nectarine skins and a cacophony of other aromas that keep appearing the longer you look, the palate is punchy and spicy where it needs to be, but beautifully juxtaposed by pristine stone fruits. There is a textural contrast towards the finish, a fine web of tannin that underwrites a long future in the cellar.
The pinnacle of Australian Chardonnay.
