Review Detail

2015 Silkwood Estate The Walcott Malbec
Wine Rating

92
I always love the nose on Malbec, it’s often reminiscent of cherry hubba bubba crossed with milk chocolate, and in this case there is also a peppery expression of blackberry for good measure.

The palate gives layers of dark fruits that range from cherry to blackberry with a consistent thread of chocolate pulling everything together.

The finish has an enjoyable savoury note to sweet blackberry fruit, with a lingering reminder of the time this wine spent in quality new French oak through a dusting of spice.
