Review Detail
2019 Glen Garvald Merlbec
Wine Rating
95
A response to a changing climate with grapes sourced from Levantine Hills Maroondah Highway Vineyard. The blend is 76 % Merlot and 24% Malbec.
The wine has tension and focus, something you expect from Levantine hill. The nose gives a mix of plum, dark cherry and blackberry fruit that is lifted by cedar and wood spice.
The palate has background tobacco and earth with blackberry fruit dominant; Sweeter, richer dark cherry and chocolate from the Malbec shines through on the mid palate before a pull of savoury tannins and fresh earth define the finish.
