2015 Star Lane Merlot

Australian Merlot, i wish more producers were making it in the style of Star Lane, this is a very good example of what the variety can deliver. The wine has a generosity that’s underpinned by a serious structure with plenty of dimension.

The nose is awash with brambly plum and cherry fruit, olive and touches of cedar add detail. The palate shows a tightly bound, strongly built wine that has earth and drying tannins at it’s centre, dark cherry and plum provide enough richness to give contrast and enjoyment at this stage in the wines development. Time will be very kind, it has a long and continual development ahead of it.
