2013 Moss Wood Ribbon Vale Merlot
Wine Rating

It is always interesting to taste Merlot from some of Australia’s best producers, the variety is much maligned in this country with a limited number of top class wineries producing the variety when compared to the number of times you will see the varietal on the shelf for wines in the $5 - $10 bracket.

This is a very good Merlot, giving a complete experience that shows both delicacy and depth. The nose has a savoury edge to leafy blackcurrant fruit with olive and dark chocolate undertones.

The palate has an understood liquorice all sorts character that works well with subtle spice, to finish there are drying yet attractive tannins supported by bright dark fruits.
