Review Detail
2015 Bonking Frog Winter Merlot
Wine Rating
86
Opens on the nose with a significant amount of oak that overshadows any real fruit character. The dominance of oak carries through to the palate where smokey vanillin richness forms a barrier that only manages to let some plum and mulberry fruit escape. Texturally the wine is supple and soft.
A wine that will have fans for those that like plenty of oak.
