Review Detail

2018 Aylesbury Estate Waterfall Gully Merlot
Wine Rating

88
The nose has plenty to offer with generous plum and milk chocolate that you expect from the variety, the wines 15% alcohol combined with some nice oak overtones gives impact.

The palate follows a similar path to the nose with bold plum fruits, tannins are soft and acidity gives enough structure for now, but only for the short term. The mid palate is lifted by olive with tannins taking on a chalky note. The finish has earth and some alcohol warmth that pulls through.
