Review Detail
2016 Hickinbotham of Dromana Coffee Rock Merlot
Wine Rating
93
You don’t see much Merlot in Mornington, however this is an enjoyable example that is much more of a nod to old world than new.
The nose has old leather, earthen plum and some chocolate tones. The palate is rounded and mouth filling; tannins are the custodian of the wines ‘mocha’ influence and they work well with sweet plum with a return of leather and gentle spice. The finish has enough acidity and drying blackberry and plum to support further cellaring. A very enjoyable drink.
