2019 Susuro Pyrenees Nebbiolo
Wine Rating

93
When you hear Australian Nebbiolo from Pyrenees your mind take you to one place, the Malakoff Vineyard. A vineyard site that has had many producers clambering to produce wine from one of the best vineyard for the variety in Australia.

As you would expect the wine is a light red in the glass and more akin in colour to a cool climate Pinot Noir. The nose has characteristic red cherry with rose petals and more savoury bramble. Tannins are chewy, yet compact and ride on tart red cherry fruit with a faint smokey, earthen impact. There is a peacocks tail of flavour with cherry and faint herbs growing in influence on the mid palate before oak gives a layer of generosity and svelte texture to finish.
