The wine is produced from an elevated vineyard in Mudgee that was aged in new and older French and American oak for 17 months prior to extended bottle ageing.
The nose enjoys Christmas cake like spice with plum and dark cherry fruit and a touch of tobacco. The palate reveals a wine with plenty of punch, bold dark berry fruits and brooding tannins are pitted amongst taunt acidity that gives a saline like note to the wine. The finish is long and shows a savoury edge to dark berry fruits and earthen/ leather notes.
