A grape variety that hails from Basilicata and Campania regions in Italy that's found a home in the Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale.
The wine shows an inky dark red to purple in the glass with a nose that literally jumps out of the glass with aromatic plum that’s backed by distinct notes of clove and spice. The palate is built on a baseline of chalky tannin that’s wrapped in raspberry and wild strawberry fruit. Oak provides a silky veneer before dark cherry is laced with pepper and clove to finish.
Only a small quantity made, and worth seeking out.
