Review Detail
2012 Teusner Joshua Grenache Mataro Shiraz
(Updated: February 08, 2013)
Wine Rating
94
The 2012 Joshua is an unoaked blend of Grenache, Mataro and Shiraz that is produced from old vine material from the Barossa Valley.
If all unoaked reds had the same presence and class as the 2012 Joshua there would undoubtedly be a greater number of wines in this style produced in Australia.
The wine is a vibrant red to purple in colour, with the nose showing attractive spices and plum.
The palate has great balance of dark fruits and chocolate characters with an underlying tarry influence, no doubt from the Mataro. It is this Mataro influence that adds wonderful texture and drive across the mid palate.
The finish is satisfying with ripe tannins and depth of dark berry fruits.
