Review Detail
2011 Pascal Pibaleau Val de Loire Gamay
(Updated: April 14, 2013)
Wine Rating
87
Domaine Pascal Pibaleau sits in the Loire Valley, within the appellation of Azay-le-Rideau. The domain has approximately 15 ha under vine and is tended to using biodynamic and organic principles.
The nose opens with roasted chestnut, smoke and tar aromas that are distinctively old world.
There is very little fruit on the palate, with freshly tilled earth, wood smoke and fresh asphalt combining with drying tannins.
The wine is long and very savoury on the finish, with food bringing out it's best.
