Review Detail
2013 Tokar Estate Aria
Wine Rating
94
The Aria is considered the pinnacle of the Tokar Estate range, interestingly for the region it is a Tempranillo dominant wine with a small additon of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. The wine is wild yeast fermented and spends time on skins prior to being transferred to new French oak hogsheads for 15 months prior to bottling (1600 bottles produced).
An attractive nose that balances cherry and plum fruits against black olive and cedary oak. There is expressive fruit on the palate with fully integrated oak and tannin, drying cola sits alonside dark cherry and plum, with a whisp of spice.
A very enjoyable wine now, but will undoubtedly reward some significant time in the cellar.
