Review Detail
2012 Lou Miranda Estate Sagrantino
Wine Rating
93
Sagrantino is starting to gain some traction in Australia, with the variety hailing from the Umbria region in central Italy. In it’s homeland it is regarded for the inky, dark fruited and earthen wines that it is capable of producing long lasting wines.
The 2012 produced by Lou Miranda certainly has an inky dark red colour in the glass, attractive nose with earthy plum and blackberry and a touch of background nutmeg / clove spice.
The thing i enjoy most about this wine is the tannin and acid structure. The wine has a genuinely juicy backbone of blackberry fruits that is accentuated by the drying tannins and taut acidity. The wine lingers with a long leathery dark fruits, raisin and earth.
