2014 Woodlands Cabernet Franc Merlot
Wine Rating
90
Cabernet Franc is best known for it’s smokey and savoury renditions from it’s spiritual home in the Loire Valley in France, it is often a component in Bordeaux blends as it is in this case with the blend consisting of 52% Cabernet Franc 43% Merlot and 5% Malbec.
A youthful red in the glass the nose gives red fruits with leafy undertones. The palate has well defined blackberry and raspberry that are underpinned by fine tannin and a juicy line of acidity. The wine sees a return of the subtle leafy undertones to finish which work well with a touch of spice.
