2015 Churchview Estate St Johns Limited Release Zinfandel
Wine Rating

90
This is the definition of a big wine, it weighs in 16.5% alcohol but manages to balance it’s heady dark fruited richness with commensurate spice from oak and layers of drying tannins. A deep dark red in the glass the nose is a smorgasbord of dark fruits with christmas cake spices and background raisin.

The palate shows a density of blackberry and dark cherry with bracing tannins that have a drying and raisin aspect that are both varietal and complimentary to the wine style. The use of American and French oak provides both spice and a coconut / caramel nuance that have an impact on the mid to back palate, the finish has a dusting of rosemary and undergrowth
