2015 Star Lane Quattro Vitigni
Wine Rating

92
Quattro Vitigni is Italian for four varieties, meaning it should not be a surprise that this wine is a blend. The majority of the blend is Nebbiolo and Sangiovese with minor additions of Merlot and Shiraz.

Blackcurrant, fruit cake spice and dried roses abound on the nose, the tannin and acid structure make this wine with a tension held between both fruit and oak. There is a thread of earthen cherry throughout, with roasted tomato like notes that meld with gentle oak inspired spice. There is good length to finish with top notes of leather and drying dark fruits.

An Australia take on a Super Tuscan that will stand out in the crowd.
