2014 Gartelmann Mudgee Petit Verdot
Wine Rating

91
The 2014 Petit Verdot release was sourced from Mudgee as opposed to Rylstone due to frost, with a 15% addition of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Clare Valley helping to make up the volume with only 200 dozen made.

A compelling nose of violets, boysenberry and red cherry with a touch of cigar box and liquorice.

The wine is soft and generous with velvety oak giving a suppleness of tannin, at this point the oak is slightly in front of the fruit but should integrate further over time with a baseline of dark berry fruits ready to shine.

I would love to see this in a few years time and see how it has evolved.
