Review Detail
2015 Catlin Montepulciano
Wine Rating
92
A vibrant but dark red in the glass, with a decidedly dark cherry fruited nose with touches of earth and tar before sweeter oak is folded through.
There is a great interplay between fruit, tannin and acid with a suppleness of cherry fruit that’s laced with milk chocolate before chalky and bright acidity cuts a swathe through the wine with a cranberry like grip. The finish enjoys a lick of oak spice to drying cherry fruit.
Drinking well now, but will continue to evolve over the shorter term.
