Review Detail
2015 d’Arenbgerg The Ironstone Pressings GSM
Wine Rating
94
A blend of Grenache (48%), Shiraz (47%) and Mourvedre (5%).
A nose that’s packed with red berry fruit, with top notes of cherry and raspberry fruit that is met by a more serious earth and iodine note that is a consistent character if this iconic wine year in, year out.
The palate melds a savoury core of drying tannin that is accentuated by dark chocolate and earth alongside dark cherry and plum fruit. There is a driving thread of acidity that underwrites the wines future development and gives a sharp edge to the fruit. Oak is very much a background influence, with subtle oak derived spice adding richness to the finish.
