Review Detail
2018 Dominique Roger Domaine du Carrou Rouge
(Updated: October 18, 2021)
Wine Rating
90
A medium but vibrant red in the glass. A nose of black cherry, bramble and some charcuterie notes. The palate has an initial crunch and texture that shows a more serious side as the wines mineral, layered impact builds across the palate. Fruit tends more black than red, with an undercurrent of crushed herbs and smoke; tannins are fine but have impact, with acidity giving drive and length.
Textural, and impactful as a young wine, with secondary complexity to come with time.
