Review Detail
2011 Longview Creek Sparkling Chenin Blanc
Wine Rating
89
Chenin Blanc as a variety is one that is not often seen in Australia, let alone one that is sparkling; the 2011 Longview Creek sparkling has been made using the methode champenoise technique.
A light yellow in colour, the wine has a fine bead with honeyed peach and green apple characters on the nose.
The palate gives an interesting contrast between tropical fruits and bone dry acidity, with good length of citrus on the finish.
As a variety, sparkling Chenin works, especially given some bottle age, and well managed acidity.
