Review Detail
2008 Grey Sands Chardonnay Viognier
Wine Rating
92
What an interesting wine, i'm sure there are some Chardonnay's with a touch of Viognier, however i have seen very few labelled. Grey Sands as a winery produce less mainstream blends and should be commended on their approach of cellaring wines for a period of time prior to release.
The 2008 shows fig and nectarine on the nose with some savoury apricot in the background. The palate gives a spiced vanillin lift to the structured stone fruits, with significant length and drive on the finish. It won't be to everyones palate, but this is a wine i enjoyed.
