2013 Willow Bridge Estate Bookends Fume Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Wine Rating

95
An excellent example of the fume style with hand picked fruit, a natural ferment and nine months in french oak providing a wine with layers of textural complexity.

The wine is a light yellow in colour with a green fleck in the glass, the nose has tropical fruits that are dampened by grassy savoury notes. The palate has an exhilarating line of acidity and a grapefruit like astringency that gives a freshness to the wine that is well contrasted by the fuller lees and oak inspired tropical fruits. Great length to finish.

Drinking well now, but will reward those who wait a few years. Each time i drink a good example of fume, i wonder why more don’t do it !
