Review Detail
2013 Cullen Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Wine Rating
96
This is about the most complex Sauvignon Semillon blend i have tried, the array of flavours and texture that has been squeezed into this wine is astonishing, it’s a far cry from the mass produced easy drinking blend that is often assembled by wineries using the two constituent grapes.
A light yellow in the glass the nose has a creamy vanillin aspect alongside nectarine, lemon zest and flint. The palate is layered with citrus fruits, oak and tantalising acidity all working in concert, the wine builds across the palate with apple and nectarine added to the melange of flavours, significant length to finish.
In a great place now but will evolve further over the shorter term.
