Review Detail
2016 Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy Arneis
Wine Rating
93
I know that Gruner is still flavour of the month at the moment when it comes to alternative whites however with representations of Arneis like this from Geoff Hardy it may well be the next ‘alternative variety’ contender !
The nose combines caramelised pineapple with some sulphide funk and slate like notes that get your attention. The wine is only 12.5% but has plenty of texture and mealy complexity due to 6 weeks on lees, this creates a great contrast between green apple and citrus notes that are the highlight of the mid to back palate. The finish is a drying, textural and complete.
