2017 Sidewood Estate Pinot Blanc
Wine Rating

91
This is the first release of this variety by Sidewood Estate, with fruit sourced from the Oakbank Estate in the Adelaide Hills. The wine was wild yeast fermented and aged in older French Oak prior to release that has given it a some generosity of mouthfeel to balance zesty citrus acidity.

The wine has jasmine like aromatics that are joined by citrus blossom and wet slate on the nose. The palate gives breadth of citrus and pear fruit, but is framed by a chalky acidity with a lime like edge, there is a touch of bitter orange to finish that gives textural grip.

This wine is drinking well now and over the shorter term.
