Review Detail
2019 Catlin #2 Hellagrud Gruner Veltliner
Wine Rating
91
The nose has a touch of funk to mandarin and musk from it’s partial fermentation on skins, time in barrel and the fact it was pressed with Gewurtztraminer skins. The wine is however is positively pristine when compared to the experimental #3 Gruner that really pushes the boundaries !
The palate shows gently spiced lime that moves towards blood orange with a generous line of acidity and fullness of mouth feel from the time in oak. There is gentle weave of spice against citrus tones alongside the moreish texture to finish that makes it a great fit for spicy or salty food.
