2021 Curly Flat Pinot Gris

A lot of thought went into this wine, there was partial carbonic fermentation and time on lees with old oak also in use. The result is a wine that has layers and layers of interest and represents one of the most compelling examples of the variety i have tried in recent years.

The nose has such generosity with rose hip and musk hitting the top notes before nashi pear and red apple play their part. The palate has the hallmark acidity the Macedon Ranges is known for and provides the backbone for the wine. The fruit is primary and pure with red apple coursing through the wine, pear comes through on the mid palate before the textural impact of time on lees which gives grip and in this case a savoury edge. Excellent definition of fruit to finish.
