Pinot Gris October 26, 2013
2011 Provenance Tarrington Pinot Gris
Wine Rating

94
When you talk to the winemaker about the effort that goes into making Pinot Gris at Provenance it is not a surprise that it is so good. The wine is given lees contact, portions see time in oak, and even some malo if it makes the balance right. It is this attention to detail and the sum of all parts that makes this wine stand out.

In terms of colour the wine is a light yellow, the nose gives citrus fruits, a touch of toast and some ginger in the background.

The palate is textural, with a mineral core of piercing acidity that gets tamed and enhanced through nashi pear, citrus blossom and slight almondmeal notes on the mid to back palate.

The wine finishes with drive and focus, but enough fleshy fruit characters to remain balanced.
