Provenance, By Farr and Bannockburn Estate are three wineries that i believe can be mentioned in the same breath and represent some of Australia's most consistent and enjoyable Pinot Noir's.

The 2008 Provenance release is a feminine yet masculine wine that keeps you coming back for more and seeing something new with each smell or sip.

It is starting to show it's age in terms of colour with a medium red moving to brick red around the rim.

The nose is a complex mix of smokey rubarb, undergrowth and dark cherry with a hint of quality oak in the background that informs the wonderful structure and character soon to be seen on the palate.

Ripe and dense red fruits saturate the front palate, the spices are sweet and mouthfililng, a savoury aspect comes across the mid to back palate, after which a textural mineral acidity contrasts the sweet red cherry and delicate french oak characters that highlight the finish.

A wonderful wine.
