2009 Pooley Wines Family Reserve Pinot Noir
Wine Rating
96
This is a standout Tasmanian Pinot Noir that has complexity and concentration in spades.
The wine is a deep red for a Pinot with the nose starting to develop some secondary characters of damp earth and leather alongside dark cherry, rhubarb and plum fruit.
The palate reveals varietal dark cherry with a juicy and mineral core, a web of fine tannin weave in and out with quality oak adding spice and a touch of smokiness. There is concentration and expansive depth to finish that is rounded out by forrest floor notes.
A complete and compelling Pinot Noir.
