Review Detail

2007 Freycinet Vineyards Louis Pinot Noir
Wine Rating

92
A decidedly dark red in colour with a lighter red hue towards the rim that was a surprise given the variety and region.

The nose is packed with concentrated dark cherry bordering on plum that is supported by vanillin oak and baking spices.

The palate shows Pinot varietal characters on steroids, everything is multiplied, layers of dark cherry, lashings of plum and mouth filling oak.

The finish has ample spice and drying, slightly astringent tannins that do well to strip back the concentrated fruit.
