Review Detail
2004 Domaine Anne Gros Clos du Veugot Grand Cru Le Grand Maupertui
Wine Rating
94
A light to medium red in the glass, ethereal nose of smokey red cherry fruit and savoury stem, oak was a little pronounced early, but came together with time in the glass.
A medium bodied wine with layered texture, red cherry is given a drying savoury aspect, new oak gives a richness and adds to the varietal spice. There are forrest floor and some more vegetal notes on the mid to back palate, a slight astringency to finish. A very good wine, from a tough Burgundy vintage.
