Review Detail
1985 Bannockburn Estate Pinot Noir
Wine Rating
88
This was a shot in the dark given it’s age, however was surprisingly enjoyable. The wine would have no doubt been better at half the age, but it was still an experience to drink a wine as old as me.
Holding a brick red hue in the glass, with wine giving a nose of sweet stem and tomato leaf alongside forrest floor aromas. The palate has good complexity with a touch of iodine to sultry dark cherry and charred stem. There is a slight astringency to finish and the wine slowly falls apart after an hour in the glass.
