Review Detail
2016 Zig Zag Rd Pinot Noir
Wine Rating
86
A more atypical representation of Pinot Noir from one of the oldest vineyards in the region that is located in the township of Malmsbury. A light to medium red in the glass with good clarity, the nose is brambly and earthy with stewed cherry, rhubarb and lick of varnish.
There is a consistent herbaceous, earthen thread that is softened by dark cherry fruit. Tannins are fine, with background notes of spice shrouded by the wines more savoury notes. The finish gives rosemary and cherry. It will be interesting to see where this goes with time.
