2017 Provenance Golden Plains Pinot Noir
Wine Rating

94
Provenance’s star has been on the rise for a while, when i first met Scott Ireland about 8 years ago i was impressed with the quality of the wines across the range and have always kept an eye out for them. It’s great to see the significant amount of critical success over recent times as well.

The Golden Plain’s Pinot Noir is a multi regional blend that provides a wine with a layered composition of fruit, tannin and oak that you will rarely find for the price. The nose is generous with lifted strawberry and black cherry enjoying a dusting of spice and fresh earth.

The palate is supple through the use of quality french oak, but at the same time it enjoys the fine lines and elegance that is a hallmark of the 2017 vintage. In terms of fruit it starts in the red berry spectrum but over time gives more rhubarb and earthen notes that will only continue to evolve with time. The seductive weave of oak gives both structure and class to finish.
