Review Detail
2017 Williams Crossing by Curly Flat Pinot Noir
Wine Rating
93
I often find the Macedon Ranges can be quite Burgundian in style,Vosne-Romanée to be precise with floral aromatics of lifted red cherry and spice that works with a tautness of acidity that frames the fruit on the palate.
The wine holds a tension between red cherry fruit and more nuanced earth and rhubarb characters. Tannins are fine but persistent and add a savoury dimension that’s short lived when oak derived spice makes itself known on the finish.
Pinot Noir of this quality shouldn’t cost $29. Back up the truck.
