2017 Bindi Original Vineyard Pinot Noir
Wine Rating

96
As the name suggests the grapes that a go into this wine come from the Original Vineyard that was planted in 1988. The wine is only ever made in small quantities and sees almost 18 months in oak of which 25% is new.

This is a benchmark example of Macedon Ranges with a purity of fruit and suppleness, whilst also having a profile of tannin and acid that gives dimension as a young wine and underwrites significant development potential.

The nose sees a mix of red and black cherry set against a dusting of spice and earth; the palate balances fruit and savoury impact with a peacocks tail of flavour that is centred on dark cherry. The finish is long and complex. One to leave for a decade if you have some.
