2012 Mayhem & Co. Hipster Riesling

The 2012 Mayhem Riesling is not your typical Riesling, what i love about it is the use of wild yeast ferment and whole bunch pressing which gives a slight funk on the nose and textural complexity throughout the wine.

The wine is a very light yellow in colour, the nose showing floral citrus blossom that is backed by green apple and some leesy honey characters.

The palate has a steely acidity from start to finish, with crunchy granny smith apple on entry, lemon curd roundness on the mid palate, after which more racy lemon zest takes hold, lingering on the finish.

This wine is youthful now, but has the elements to reward cellaring.
