2012 Crawford River Riesling
Wine Rating

94
Crawford River is an iconic producer of Riesling from the ultra cool climate region of Henty in Victoria, with the region not yet classified as a GI in 1975 when the Thomson family first planted vinyeards.

The 2012 is the first Crawford River wine that i have tried and i was amazed by the structure, complexity and general finesse, this is a wine that shows more than varietal expression, with climatic and site influences even more pronounced.

The nose balances tropical undertones with aniseed aromas, the palate is youthful and bound by a wonderful line of acidity that helps shape the layered structure that plays tropical fruits and subtle fennel characters against one another. The finish is long and well balanced, i can't wait to see where this wine goes in the future.
