Review Detail
2017 Granite Hills Riesling
Wine Rating
96
Granite Hills are an icon of the Macedon Ranges who are particularly well known for their Riesling which is produced from 45 year old vines planted at an elevation of over 550 metres. Cool climate viticulture at it’s finest.
The wine gives has a light yellow hue in the glass with a nose of citrus blossom, lime and musk aromatics that are backed by wet slate and the faintest touch of fennel.
A piercingly pure wine that has a delicacy of citrus fruits that is matched by a fine tapestry of acidity that gives wonderful contrast and impressive length. There is a honey and spice note that adds some richness to citrus fruits on the mid to back palate.
A wine that is immediately approachable now, but will last for decades.
