A very light, but bright red in colour that is true to the variety and the vintage.

The nose shows varietal characters of stewed cherry and earth, with rich oak adding a dimension.

The palate is a textural contrast from start to finish with dusty stewed cherry and sour edged raspberry giving way to mouth coating oak with fine grippy tannins towards the finish.

The acid that weaves throughout the wine is taut and mineral, and ensures the finish is fruit, rather than oak driven.

I found that it certainly reflected the season and bordered on the dilute, especially if popped and poured. Allowed to breath for a while it filled out and became more interesting with classic sangiovese characters. A great wine for a Saturday afternoon, sitting with the sun in your face, wondering whether to strike up the barbeque
