2015 Star Lane Sangiovese
Wine Rating

95
Sangiovese has played a big part in the 2015 blends from Star Lane and provided a rustic, earthen backdrop that has worked so well when paired with both Shiraz and Nebbiolo. This is the unadulterated version that maintains that rustic appeal but shows an attractive side with juicy fruit and just the right amount of french oak.

The nose is on the fruit forward side of the Sangiovese spectrum with dark cherry lifted by oak spice, the palate continues in the same vein, attractive, tight grain french oak spice is the perfect stablemate to drying cherry fruit with the mid palate showing taut but fine tannins and a moreish acidity. The finish is steeped in cherry fruit, but is accentuated by tomato leaf and earth.

Sangiovese has a home in Beechworth
