Review Detail
2015 Hunter Gatherer-Vinters Sangiovese Rose
Wine Rating
92
The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Chalmers vineyard in Heathcote, the wine is made in a style that shows the delicacy of flavour of a typical rose, but enjoys significant structure and presence that sees it both drinking well beyond a couple of years and a good accompaniment to most foods.
Cherry and understated earth and citrus on the nose, the palate is drying with savoury flare to dark cherry fruit. The mouthfeel is immense, texturally it’s more reminiscent of a quality full bodied chardonnay, with the same balance of acidity that’s needed to retain freshness and varietal appeal.
Will continue to evolve over the shorter term.
